Attention 2nd through 8th Grade Teachers!
How can you have a fascinating day outdoors, spend time
with your family AND keep up to date on the State Science
Standards AND receive ready-to-use classroom and field
trip materials all at the same time?
That's easy - just sign up for one of the Dunes Center's
Teacher Science Workshops.
This school year the Dunes Center in Guadalupe is sponsoring
a series of Teacher Science Workshops for 2nd through 8th
grade teachers in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
What makes this workshop different is that you are
encouraged to bring your favorite child with you; son/daughter,
niece/nephew or grandchild.
We have specifically designed this workshop so that you
can spend time with a loved one while receiving hands-on
training in using the Dunes Center's Education Materials.
The Dunes Center Education Materials are a series of science
curriculum activities centering around The Guadalupe-Nipomo
Dunes Preserve encompassing:
-> Natural History
-> Cultural History
-> Geology
-> Language Arts
-> Water Science
The activities range from those you can explore in your own
classroom to those suitable for dunes adventures.
The Dunes Center's curriculum specialists will show you how to
put the ready-made activities to work by exploring them with
the eager audience of children that accompany participating teachers.
By taking the workshop you will:
-> Gain Experience with valuable tools keyed to the State Science Standards
-> Learn about the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Preserve
-> Receive copies of three CD-ROM programs to use in your classroom
-> Receive a copy of the Education Kit printed materials on CD-ROM
-> Have a great day outdoors with a child
AND IT'S ONLY $30.00!
Teacher Comment:
"The dunes, alive with its bounty of nature's treasures, beckons all to discover its vast store of natural wonder and unfolding science. Step back in time as you enter the Dunes Center. Investigate the dune's history and learn about the grand opportunities that lie ahead"
- JoAnn Peca, 6th grade teacher, McKenzie Junior High, Guadalupe
