Welcome to Guadalupe Speaks, California Stories

The Interviews:

In February 2004, Guadalupe resident, Stephanie Krouse, became the new Director following Larry Alkire’s retirement.

Initially, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo students had been used to conduct the resident interviews and create written transcripts. In June 2004 the project moved into its next phase of development whereby high school students from the Keystone Club in Guadalupe were trained to become interviewers.

The students now conduct interviews under the supervision of an advisor and with the assistance of an award-winning videographer from WildWare.

Following the interviews, volunteers create written transcripts that will be archived. Excerpts from the transcripts will also be used, as authorized by the interviewees, to help further the goals of Guadalupe Speaks.

Local residents are currently being sought for interviews. If you are/were a long time resident of Guadalupe and you would be willing to share your experiences with others, please contact us now! (Perhaps you think that your life may not seem so interesting to others…however, even the most mundane experiences are fascinating when the historical changes in California are
factored into the equation.)

We would love to have your help on this valuable project!
